Fast Forward is a payment option available at participating Safeway stores. By enrolling in Fast Forward, you can add payment functionality to your Safeway Club Card. This will allow you to receive all of your Club savings, and pay for your groceries directly from your checking account at the same time.
2. How does it work?
You can pay by using your new Fast Forward card and PIN, just like with a debit card. But unlike a debit card, you also have the option to pay without your card (cardless) by simply using your 10-digit Cardless Access Number (e.g., your telephone number) and PIN.
3. How is fast forward linked to my checking account?
Your Fast Forward enabled Club Card is linked to your existing checking account at the financial institution of your choice. There is no need to set up a new checking account. During the enrollment process you will be asked to provide your bank routing number and account number from your checking account.

5. Is there any age requirement for Fast Forward?
Yes. You must be at least 18 years of age.
6. How long does the enrollment process take to complete?
Have your ID and checking account information (bank routing and account numbers) ready and it will take an average of 3 to 5 minutes to complete.
7. How soon after enrollment can I use my new Fast Forward account?
When you have successfully enrolled, look for your Fast Forward Debit Card and PIN to be mailed separately within 7 to 10 days. The first time you use Fast Forward in our participating stores, you will need to use a standard checkout lane (not a self-checkout or a kiosk) and bring your driver's license for security and verification purposes.

We are required to obtain and verify information that uniquely identifies each person that applies to enroll in Fast Forward.
13. Can I use my check card to enroll?
No. The information provided on your check card does not include your bank routing number and checking account number and cannot be used for enrollment.

No. Each individual needs to have their own Fast Forward account and PIN.
15. What is the purpose of the security question?
We will ask you one or more of these questions to help us identify you when you call us to inquire about your account. Please choose and enter an answer that will be memorable to you.
16. Why do I need to enter the characters in the Required Security Measure portion?
Type the characters you see into the blank field. This helps prevent automated Internet registrations and increases the security of our network.
17. How long does it take for funds to clear from the purchase?
Because Fast Forward works like a check, the funds for each transaction may take several business days after the transaction occurred to be withdrawn from your Checking Account; however funds need to be immediately available in your account.
18. What if I forget my PIN?
In the event that you have forgotten your PIN, contact Payment Services at 1-866-392-9517 or write to them at P.O. Box 29241, Phoenix, AZ 85038. A new PIN will be generated and sent to you via US Postal Service in approximately 7 to 10 days. Please remember to safeguard your PIN. Never share, or write your PIN on or near your Fast Forward card.
19. WHAT IF I WANT TO CHOOSE MY OWN SECURE PIN?
Once you have successfully received your Fast Forward Debit Card and PIN by mail, you may contact Payment Services at 1-866-392-9517 where you can update your PIN to a PIN of your choice using our automated PIN set system.
20. What if I forget my cardless number or lose my card?
In the event that you have forgotten your Cardless Number or have lost your Card, contact Payment Services at 1-866-392-9517 or write to them at P.O. Box 29241, Phoenix, AZ 85038.
21. What if I have a question about a Fast Forward transaction?
Contact Payment Services at 1-866-392-9517 or write to them at P.O. Box 29241, Phoenix, AZ 85038. This number and address may also be found on receipts when the Fast Forward payment option is used.
22. How are returns for goods and services purchased using my Fast Forward account handled?
Returns are handled the same as other forms of payment. Please go to the Customer Service desk at a participating Safeway store. Refunds are subject to Safeway store policy.
23. Can my card be cancelled?
Yes. You may cancel your account at any time by contacting Payment Services at 1-866-392-9517 or by writing to them at P.O. Box 29241, Phoenix, AZ 85038. Safeway also reserves the right to terminate the Fast Forward Service, under certain circumstances. For more information, please refer to the Fast Forward Terms and Conditions and Electronic Consent Agreement.
24. Does my card or cardless number expire?
No. Your card and your cardless number do not expire.
25. Do I receive a statement tracking my spending?
You will not receive a separate statement tracking your Fast Forward transactions. The transactions will appear only on the statement issued by your financial institution that holds the account you used to enroll in Fast Forward. You should save the receipts you are given when you use Fast Forward if you wish to check them against the account statement you receive from your bank that holds your account.
26. Can I use Fast Forward in all Safeway stores?
Fast Forward is currently only available in our selected California Safeway stores. To check for availability near you, please contact Payment Services at 1-866-392-9517 or write to P.O. Box 29241, Phoenix, AZ 85038, or visit us online at www.safeway.com/fastforward.
27. What if I choose to proceed without bank information?
You can only complete your enrollment with your banking information.
28. How do I activate my Club Card functionality with my new Fast Forward account?
You will be issued a new Safeway Club Card account already linked to your new Fast Forward account to ensure that you receive your Club Card savings each time you pay with Fast Forward.
Please Note: If you are currently using just for U digital savings or have any other promotions or benefits tied to your existing Club Card account, you will need to link your existing account to your new Club Card account. This can easily be done during enrollment by providing your existing Club Card number or the current Club Card linked phone number.
You can also call Safeway at 1-877-723-3929 to link your accounts later, after successful enrollment. You will be asked for your Fast Forward Cardless and Card Reference number. Be sure to provide the Cardless Number you created during enrollment. Your new Fast Forward Card Reference Number will be printed on the letter attached to your new card, which will arrive by mail approximately 7 to 10 days after successful enrollment.
29. WHEN WILL A FAST FORWARD DEBIT CARD AND PIN BE MAILED TO ME?
A personalized card, with your First and Last Name embossed on the front, will be mailed to the Mailing Address provided during enrollment usually between 7 to 10 days. Your PIN will arrive separately usually within 7 to 10 days. Printed on the letter attached to your card you will also find:
Confirmation of when and where you enrolled
Information about how to link your new Fast Forward Account to your Safeway Club Card account if you have not already done so during enrollment
30. Why did my enrollment process expire?
For security reasons, if your online enrollment via www.safeway.com/fastforward is idle for more than 10 minutes, it will be automatically canceled. You will need to restart from the beginning if your enrollment process expires.
31. Can i activate my fast forward account at a safeway GAS station?
No. Your initial Fast Forward activation (with Driver'ís License or ID swipe) must be performed at a register located at the front of the store or at the Customer Service register inside the main store. Initial activation also cannot be processed at Self-Checkout or store department registers.
32. can i get cash back WITH PURCHASE?
Yes, once you are fully authorized to use the Fast Forward Service, you can get a maximum cash back amount of $100 in a single day and up to $300 in a 3-day period. If your enrollment is conditional pending additional processing, cash back is not allowed until after your application review is completed and your enrollment is fully authorized. Cash back goes towards your Purchase Amount Limits, and is not in addition to your Purchase Limits. For more information, please refer to the Fast Forward Terms and Conditions and Electronic Consent Agreement.
33. can i request an increase to my Purchase or cash back limits?
Once you are fully enrolled into the Fast Forward Service, a request can be made to increase your limits by contacting Payment Services at 1-866-392-9517. Certain restrictions may apply.
34. Can i enroll using my mobile phone?
You will have a better enrollment experience using a desktop or laptop computer, or you can call Payment Services to enroll by phone at 1-866-392-9517. However to enroll for Fast Forward online using a mobile device (e.g. iPhone, Android, Blackberry), you must have the Safeway App installed.
35. Can i change my banking information or update my address online?
No. For your security, updates to your Fast Forward Account must be made by calling Payment Services directly at 1-866-392-9517.
36. I am currently enrolled in Smartcheck, can i enroll in fast forward online?
At this time, active SmartCheck customers must enroll by phone. Please contact Fast Forward Payment Services directly at 1-866-392-9517.
37. how long will the fast forward 2x gas reward points promotion be valid?
2x Gas Reward Points are earned every time you use your Fast Forward card to pay for qualifying purchases. This is an ongoing Fast Forward benefit, not a one-time promotion. Safeway does reserve the right to discontinue or alter the terms of this program at any time.

Every point you earn on qualifying purchases in Safeway Gas Reward Points Program earns a bonus point when you pay with your Fast Forward card.

Gas Reward Points earned by paying with Fast Forward expire based on the same rules as the current Safeway Gas Reward Points Program. Points less than 100 expire at the end of the calendar month in which they were earned (for example, in January, points less than 100 expire on Jan. 31). Gas Rewards earned during each month can be used through the end of the following calendar month (for example, Rewards earned in January expire on Feb. 28).
